At the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve you can encounter the birdlife of the region. And here, permits are available for the stunning Boesmanskloof Hiking Trail. The trail, 14 kms in length, starts south of McGregor and leads through the Riviersonderend Mountains up to Greyton, coming across waterfalls, crystal-clear rivers, wildflower carpets and fynbos landscape. Calculate 6 hours for the hike and perhaps stay overnight in Greyton. |

McGregor is a pretty little village from the 19th century in
which time has stood still. The many thatch-roofed "Cape cottages" between nostalgic fruit and vegetable gardens are very well preserved and maintained. The villagers closely watch over the dainty character being preserved. Numerous artists, arts & crafts people, musicians, esoterics, alternative healers, nature friends and ecologically and spiritually conscious people have chosen McGregor as their home and contribute to the special atmosphere of our village.
